The Hunt and Buying Licenses!A Quick Limit

All of our hunts are self-guided. We are providing the land that is specifically developed and farmed for pheasant huntung. Hunt at your leisure and on your timeline. You will have access to the entire 1,600+ acres located in a 30 mile radius of Wessington, South Dakota and the Farm House for lodging located North of Wessington on 640 acres of incredible pheasant habitat. Last year (2006), over 900 pheasants were shot on our land and limits were taken by every hunting group. We do NOT release any pheasants. These are all wild pheasants populations!

You will hunt with your group only. Hunting starts at 12:00pm until the end of Daylight Savings Time then moves to a 10:00am start. We guarantee that you will have the opportunity to bag your limit of pheasants by sunset each day. You are hunting "Wild" pheasants. This is not for the faint hearted and these birds do not hold like pen raised birds do. When you exit your vehicle, you better be ready to hunt.Licenses can be purchased over the Internet at the SD Game Fish & ParksOn The Move website or can be purchased locally at one of the many convenience stores.  Bring plenty of leadshot shotgun shells. Shot sizes 5-6-7 ½ are well suited for pheasants. If you plan to hunt any public land, you must use steel shot on all public lands. I recommend an Improved Cylinder choke for early season hunting and a Modified choke for hunting after November 15th.

Remember, many of your shots tend to be at closer range, especially early in the season.

We encourage you to bring your own dogs.  However… please make sure your dogs are well trained. It will make the hunting experience for you and your fellow hunting buddies much more enjoyable.

Hunters After a LimitPeterson Party With Birds

Please come prepared for a variety of weather conditions. With early season hunts, you can encounter snow storms and late season hunts can sometimes be warm and windy. Bring the appropriate clothing for any weather condition that you may encounter in the field.
